Nine ASEAN teams set for 2027 Asian Cup Qualifiers

Nine ASEAN teams are set to kick off their 2027 Asian Cup Qualifiers campaign on Tuesday (25/3/2025).

The participating teams are:

  • Philippines

  • Timor-Leste

  • Brunei Darussalam

  • Singapore

  • Thailand

  • Myanmar

  • Vietnam

  • Malaysia

  • Laos

These nine teams are spread across six different groups with three nations expected to have favorable opening matches. Malaysia will host Nepal on home soil, Vietnam will face fellow ASEAN side Laos, and Thailand is scheduled to take on Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile, Indonesia will not participate in the qualifiers as the Garuda Squad has already secured direct qualification to the 2027 Asian Cup finals.

With ASEAN teams eager to make their mark these qualifiers will be a crucial test of their progress and competitiveness on the continental stage. Strong performances could boost their chances of securing a spot in the 2027 Asian Cup, further strengthening ASEAN’s presence in Asian football.
