Nigeria Advances to WAFCON Quarter-finals After Defeating Botswana

The Nigeria women’s national team secured their place in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) quarter-finals after defeating Botswana 1-0 at El Arbi Zaouli Stadium, Casablanca.

The match remained tight with several opportunities created — Michelle Alozie and Asisat Oshoala nearly opened the scoring in the first half but failed to convert.

Botswana’s goalkeeper, Sedilame Boseja, delivered an outstanding performance with crucial saves — denying Ashleigh Plumptre‘s powerful shot and Jennifer Echegini‘s curling attempt.

The winning goal finally came in the 89th minute when Chinwendu Ihezuo deflected Esther Okoronkwo‘s cross into the net.

Nigeria now has 6 points in Group B — followed by Algeria with 4 points, Tunisia with 1 point, and Botswana without points.
