Nicolas Jackson Receives Two-Match Ban in FIFA Club World Cup

Nicolas Jackson of Chelsea has received a two-match suspension from FIFA following his red card in the Club World Cup match against Flamengo in Philadelphia.

The Senegalese striker was dismissed after entering as a substitute — performing a dangerous tackle on Ayrton Lucas. This marks Jackson’s second red card in his last four appearances for Chelsea, who suffered a 3-1 defeat.

“I want to say sorry. To the club, the staff, my teammates, and all the fans watching, I let you down,” Jackson wrote on Instagram. “I work very hard every day to help the team not to put us in this kind of situation. It wasn’t intentional, just a football moment that went the wrong way.”

Chelsea will face ES Tunis on Wednesday — a defeat would eliminate them from this tournament.
