Nico Rosberg Reveals Serious Issues at Alpine F1 Team

Nico Rosberg, the 2016 Formula 1 world champion, shares his insights about Alpine F1 team’s critical situation on the Sky Sports F1 Show podcast.

The French team sits last in the constructors’ standings with 11 points — a situation compounded by continuous leadership changes. The latest shift comes as Renault announced CEO Luca de Meo’s upcoming resignation in mid-July.

“We know how important stability is for the performance of a team. It’s one of Ferrari’s weaknesses too with their lack of stability. Unlike Mercedes, where if I walk in today, the leaders from my time 15 years ago are still in their key positions,” Rosberg explained.

The former Mercedes driver compared Alpine’s situation to his experience:

“When I was at Mercedes and we were driving around last place, they were almost going to pull the plug every weekend because it’s anti-marketing — damaging the brand image of Alpine and Renault.”

Rosberg also highlighted current automotive industry challenges — declining sales, shift to e-mobility, competition from Chinese manufacturers and Tesla — which could impact the F1 team’s marketing budget.
