Nico Hulkenberg finally claims first F1 podium after 238 races

Nico Hulkenberg marked a historic moment at the British GP by securing his first Formula 1 podium after starting from 19th position. Sauber’s well-executed tire strategy guided the German driver to third place.

This achievement received warm reception from paddock colleagues. Carlos Sainz, Hulkenberg’s former teammate at Renault, affirmed his longstanding confidence in the 37-year-old driver’s abilities.

“For me he’s always been a top-five driver in the grid every time he’s been in F1. His level of talent and race execution is incredible,” stated Sainz.

Two-time world champion Fernando Alonso also expressed his joy:

“I’m very, very truly happy for him. He’s one of the best drivers on the grid that never had the opportunity to have a proper car underneath.”

Max Verstappen, who finished fifth after starting from pole position, also praised Hulkenberg’s achievement:

“This is pretty special for him. He knows how good he is and has shown that in the past, but for whatever reason it didn’t work out up until now.”
