New York Jets Owner Agrees to Buy Crystal Palace Stake for £190 Million

New York Jets Owner Agrees to Buy Crystal Palace Stake for £190 Million

Woody Johnson, owner of NFL’s New York Jets, has reached an agreement to purchase a 43% stake in Crystal Palace for £190 million from American businessman John Textor, according to ESPN sources.

The deal requires Premier League approval — Johnson must pass the Owners and Directors’ Test. The official announcement is expected to come this Monday.

Crystal Palace — this season’s FA Cup winners — faces UEFA regulatory challenges due to Textor’s dual ownership through Eagle Football Holdings Group, which also controls Lyon. UEFA rules prohibit two clubs with the same owner from competing in the same tournament.

Johnson, the 78-year-old former US Ambassador to the UK, previously attempted to purchase Chelsea when the club was sold due to sanctions against Roman Abramovich. Despite being a Chelsea supporter, he now turns to invest in Crystal Palace, who will compete in Europa League next season.
