What’s New at Dota 2 The International 2025?

After a long-awaited period, the Dota 2 competition The International 2025 has finally shared an update eagerly anticipated by the global Dota community, especially regarding ticket sales. Starting today, tickets can be purchased via their official partner site, AXS.

To attend the prestigious tournament in Germany, you need to purchase the regular ticket for €85. However, for each of the next two days, it will be €165. There is also a premium seat option priced at €199 for the first two days, and then €299 for the following day.

The Road to The International will kick off on September 4, followed by the main event scheduled for September 11. The initial prize pool is set at €1,409,000, with the possibility of an increase in the near future.

Additionally, the community has the opportunity to participate in a cosplay contest at TI2025 with a prize pool of €18,000. This promises to be an exciting event for Dota fans looking to showcase their creativity.

New tournament format

One of the biggest changes for this year’s TI is the new Swiss-system. Instead of the traditional round-robin or double-elimination group stages, teams will now compete in best-of-three matches against opponents with similar records.

To qualify for the upper bracket of the main event, teams must secure four wins. Teams with three wins will have to compete in a final qualifying match to determine their slot.

This format aims to make every match crucial and reduce the chances of teams from playing safe when they face easier opponents. The change has been met with enthusiasm from fans, who have praised it as the best group stage format in TI to date.
