Neuer Slams Donnarumma for Musiala’s Serious Injury at Club World Cup

Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer strongly criticized Gianluigi Donnarumma‘s action that led to Jamal Musiala‘s serious injury in their loss to Paris Saint-Germain during the Club World Cup quarter-finals.

The incident occurred near the end of the first half during a 50-50 challenge between Musiala and the PSG goalkeeper — resulting in the Bayern midfielder being stretchered off with a severe left leg injury.

“A situation where you don’t have to go in like that,” Neuer told Sky Germany. “That’s risky. He’s willing to accept the risk of injuring his opponent.”

Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl confirmed Musiala was immediately taken to hospital, while coach Vincent Kompany indicated the injury appeared serious around the ankle area.

PSG ultimately won the match 2-0 despite being reduced to nine men after Willian Pacho and Lucas Hernández received red cards late in the game.

Musiala — who was named Germany’s Player of the Year last year — is likely to miss Bayern’s start to the new season next month.
