NASCAR Penalizes Two Xfinity Series Teams for Talladega Rule Violations

Following the recent race weekend at Talladega Superspeedway, NASCAR has issued significant penalties to two Xfinity Series teams due to technical violations identified during pre-race inspections.

Viking Motorsports and Jordan Anderson Racing Sanctioned

Viking Motorsports, with driver Matt DiBenedetto, and Jordan Anderson Racing, represented by Austin Green, were found in violation of regulations regarding the rear bumper cover assembly during the pre-race inspection process.

As a result, both teams were handed L1-level penalties, which include:

  • A deduction of 20 driver and owner points

  • A reduction of 5 playoff points

  • A $25,000 fine for each team

Impact on Standings

Despite the penalty, Matt DiBenedetto maintains his 24th place in the regular-season standings. Austin Green, who is competing on a part-time basis, remains unaffected in playoff contention due to his limited participation.

Cup Series Post-Race Inspections Clear

In contrast, post-race inspections for the NASCAR Cup Series yielded no penalties. The Chevrolet of Kyle Larson (Hendrick Motorsports) and the Ford of Josh Berry (Wood Brothers Racing) successfully passed post-race scrutiny, confirming compliance with technical regulations.
