NASCAR to Introduce Victory Podium for the First Time in Mexico

According to NASCAR, the motorsport series will introduce something new — their first official victory podium ceremony in points-paying race history in Mexico.

Daniel Suarez, Monterrey-born driver and the only non-American NASCAR champion, welcomes this decision — a tradition common in motorsport but foreign to NASCAR fans.

“I think it could be a good idea. If you think about it, we are pretty much the only sport that does it like this. The Olympics — everything has a podium,” says Suarez.

The podium ceremony will take place in the stadium section of Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez — a venue that can accommodate up to 30,000 spectators on both sides. Both NASCAR Cup and Xfinity series will hold podium celebrations.

Suarez will compete in both racing categories:

  • Car No. 99 Trackhouse Racing Team Chevrolet in Cup class
  • Car No. 9 JR Motorsports Chevrolet in Xfinity class

Despite no victories in 14 races this season, Suarez remains optimistic about his home race — focusing on perfect execution throughout the weekend and enjoying this historic moment.
