NASCAR Installs Tire Barriers at Mexico City Circuit to Enforce Track Limits

NASCAR has installed tire barriers at several corners of the Mexico City circuit — a move that has received positive feedback from drivers for maintaining track limits.

Bubba Wallace fully supports the placement of these tire barriers. “This is good for us as it forces drivers to stay within track limits. I spent most of my time in the simulator focusing on staying on the racing surface,” he stated.

NASCAR has also added yellow lines through the esses — violations will result in a stop-and-go penalty at designated points. The placement of tire barriers was done carefully to avoid incidents like those previously seen at Charlotte Roval.

Chase Elliott from Hendrick Motorsports indicated that tire barriers will change how drivers approach corners. “The tire barriers will significantly change my approach in certain sections compared to simulator practice,” he explained.

NASCAR Xfinity Series champion Justin Allgaier warned about the risks of mistakes on the track. “Any mistake here could become a major issue. If you go off track, there’s potential for serious car damage,” he emphasized.
