NASCAR Cup Series ready for historic race in Mexico this weekend

NASCAR Cup Series is set to make history — the first race outside the United States since 1958 will take place at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, Mexico City.

William Byron from Hendrick Motorsports continues to lead the regular standings with a 41-point advantage over teammate Kyle Larson. Meanwhile, Denny Hamlin — fresh off a victory in Michigan — is one of three active drivers who previously competed at this circuit during the 2005-2008 Xfinity Series era.

A total of 37 drivers will participate in this historic race, including Katherine Legge who will pilot the No.78 Live Fast Motorsports Chevrolet in her second appearance this season.

Complete weekend schedule in Mexico:

  • Friday: Cup and Xfinity practice
  • Saturday: Qualifying and Xfinity race (65 laps)
  • Sunday: Cup Series race (100 laps)

All NASCAR Cup Series action can be watched on Prime Video, while the Xfinity Series race will air on The CW. NASCAR Mexico Series races will be broadcast on YouTube.

“We are very close to securing a fifth manufacturer,” stated NASCAR officials regarding recent developments, alongside confirmation of Ram’s return to the NASCAR Truck Series.
