Musiala Suffers Severe Injury in Club World Cup, Refuses to Blame Donnarumma

Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala refuses to blame anyone for his severe injury sustained during the Club World Cup quarter-final match against Paris Saint-Germain.

The 22-year-old suffered a fibula fracture with ankle dislocation — following a collision with PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma at the end of the first half.

“The surgery went really well and I’m in good care. I wanted to say there’s no one to blame,” Musiala posted on Instagram. “I think situations like this happen and now I’m just going to use this time to build up my strength and positivity again.”

Despite his teammates Manuel Neuer and sporting director Max Eberl criticizing Donnarumma’s actions, Musiala maintained a gracious stance. The injury will force the German national team star — who scored 21 goals this season — to miss the start of next season.

PSG ultimately won the match 2-0 to advance to the semifinal against Real Madrid. Donnarumma appeared visibly shaken after the incident and sent a message of support for Musiala’s recovery.
