Musiala suffers severe injury after collision with Donnarumma at Club World Cup

Jamal Musiala sustained a serious injury during Bayern Munich’s match against Paris Saint-Germain in the FIFA Club World Cup quarter-finals.

The young Bayern player suffered a fibula fracture and left ankle dislocation — following a collision with PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. Musiala was immediately flown back to Munich for surgery.

“This serious injury and lengthy recovery period come as a shock to both Jamal and all of us,” stated Bayern board member Max Eberl. “We will provide everything he needs and support him intensively.”

Manuel Neuer, Bayern Munich’s goalkeeper, criticized Donnarumma’s actions in the incident.

“That was a situation that didn’t need to be handled that way. It’s very risky and he was willing to accept the risk of injuring his opponent,” said Neuer.

Donnarumma later posted a photo of himself on Instagram with an apologetic message and prayers for Musiala’s recovery.
