Musiala Hat-Trick as Bayern Smash Auckland 10-0 in Club World Cup Opener

Bayern Munich made a thunderous statement at the start of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, dismantling Auckland City 10-0 at TQL Stadium in Cincinnati in a one-sided affair that laid bare the gulf between European and Oceanian club football.

Jamal Musiala starred with a sensational second-half hat-trick, headlining what became the biggest win in the history of the competition. From the opening whistle, Bayern showed their intent, and Auckland—despite some brave moments early on—were soon overwhelmed.

Kingsley Coman opened the scoring just five minutes in with a precise header at the near post. Auckland tried to play positively but the floodgates opened before the 20th minute.

Veteran Thomas Müller, playing in his final professional tournament, turned creator with two assists in quick succession. He first nodded a ball down for full-back Sascha Boey to smash in across goal, then helped Michael Olise tap in from the far post after a scramble involving Harry Kane.

Just a minute later, Coman got his second, wriggling past defender Michael den Heijer inside the box and placing a composed shot past goalkeeper Conor Tracey to make it 4-0.

A brief lull followed, during which Auckland showed some fight. Tracey made a solid save to deny a powerful strike from Kane, but the resistance didn’t last.

Before half-time, Müller volleyed home from Olise’s cross, and Olise himself curled in a brilliant sixth goal to cap off a dominant first half.

The second half belonged to Musiala.

The 21-year-old German midfielder dazzled the Cincinnati crowd with three goals in under 30 minutes, showcasing his flair, footwork, and composure inside the box. Each goal further buried Auckland’s hopes of damage control.

Bayern’s 10-0 triumph sets a new record margin of victory at the Club World Cup and sends a strong signal to their rivals. Auckland, meanwhile, leave the competition knowing they’ve faced the very peak of world football quality.
