Muhammad Ardiansyah joins U-23 national team as most experienced goalkeeper

Muhammad Ardiansyah joins Indonesia U-23 squad as the goalkeeper with most Liga 1 appearances — a significant addition under new coach Gerald Vanenburg.

Preparation for ASEAN Cup U-23 2025 began with six goalkeepers called up, but after three days of training, the number reduced to four after Husna Al Malik and Putra Sheva Sanggasi were cut from the team.

Vanenburg retained three goalkeepers chosen by Shin Tae-yong from previous ASEAN Cup:

• Cahya Supriadi
• Daffa Fasya
• Erlangga Setyo

Unlike his predecessor, Vanenburg added competition by including Ardiansyah — who despite being newcomer, actually has highest playing time in Liga 1 among other goalkeepers.
