Mourinho Denies Rumors about Portugal National Team Role

Fenerbahce head coach, José Mourinho, has firmly denied rumors linking him to the Portugal national team managerial position.

“Yes, I can deny that I had any meeting with the Portuguese Football Federation. I am a loyal person,” stated Mourinho during a press briefing.

The denial follows local media reports suggesting that the former Real Madrid and Chelsea manager had been approached as a replacement for Roberto Martínez.

Mourinho turned down lucrative offer

Fenerbahce president Ali Koç had previously disclosed that Mourinho rejected a staggering €36 million offer during the season. The Portuguese tactician confirmed the claim:

“I informed the club before meeting with the person who made the offer.”

Reaction to Galatasaray’s title celebration

In the wake of Galatasaray’s recent league title victory, Mourinho expressed disapproval of their celebration, particularly targeting an incident where goalkeeper Fernando Muslera took a penalty kick in the final minutes of a 2–0 win.

“That is not the way to celebrate a championship,” Mourinho remarked critically.

Fenerbahce seals runner-up finish

Despite missing out on the title, Fenerbahce secured second place in the league after a 2–1 win against Eyüpspor in the final round.
