MotoGP Manufacturers Unite to Renegotiate Revenue Sharing with Dorna

According to Motorsport.com, five MotoGP manufacturers held a strategic meeting last weekend at the Czech GP — signing a joint commitment document and appointing Lin Jarvis as their spokesperson.

Jarvis along with Manufacturers’ Association (MSMA) President Massimo Rivola met with Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta — discussing manufacturers’ desire to review the championship’s financial asset distribution.

The manufacturers aim to establish an agreement similar to Formula 1’s Concorde Agreement — a contract that governs revenue distribution based on end-season standings. Satellite teams currently receiving €2.5 million per bike also support this initiative.

Two key points proposed by manufacturers include:

  • Review of revenue sharing from rights holder
  • Grid slot ownership currently held by Dorna

This move emerges following Dorna’s acquisition by Liberty Media valued at €4.3 billion — who also holds F1’s commercial rights. While investor interest in purchasing independent teams has increased, team valuations around €20 million are difficult to justify as Dorna still holds legal ownership of grid slots.
