Morbidelli upset with Dutch GP penalty after chicane incident

Franco Morbidelli from Pertamina Enduro VR46 team faced a disappointing turn of events at the 10th round of 2025 Dutch MotoGP at Assen Circuit.

The former 2020 MotoGP runner-up — was forced to finish seventh after an incident with his teammate, Fabio Di Giannantonio, at the chicane before the finish line on lap 20.

The incident brought back memories of a similar situation involving his mentor, Valentino Rossi, against Marc Marquez at the 2015 Dutch GP — where Rossi cut the corner but was still declared the winner by Race Direction.

“I’m very disappointed with this decision. The situation was very similar to what happened 10 years ago,” said Morbidelli.
