Moonton Games Malaysia has announced its intention to implement a franchise system for the MLBB Pro League Malaysia in the near future. This long-term strategy aims to strengthen the league’s ecosystem and ensure its sustainability, following the footsteps of the successful franchise models already established in MPL Indonesia and MPL Philippines.

Via GosuGamers, Fikri Rizal Mahruddin, Esports Lead at Moonton Games Malaysia, emphasized that adopting a franchise system would bring significant improvements. He highlighted how Indonesia and the Philippines have set a precedent for franchise leagues, creating stable structures to maintain the competitive ecosystem.

“We are seriously considering the shift to franchise league models in the midterm future. If it brings MPL Malaysia and Malaysian Esports to the next level, then it is something that we will not rule out.”

To accommodate this transition smoothly, MPL Malaysia has introduced a paid ticketing system starting with Season 15. Fans attending live matches are now required to purchase tickets priced at RM10—a strategic move fueled by the league’s explosive growth in live attendance and viewership over the past year.

The franchise model, combined with ticketing revenue, will empower organizers to unlock new financial resources, enabling them to craft innovative experiences and elevate the tournament to the same level as MPL ID and MPL PH.
