RRQ Valorant’s Cahya “Monyet” Nugraha has credited teammate Maksim “Jemkin” Batorov as the driving force behind their improbable comeback against Gen.G.

RRQ became the talk of the Valorant community today following their remarkable 2-1 victory over Gen.G. The win seemed unlikely early on, as RRQ not only lost the first map but also found themselves on the brink of elimination during the second map—trailing 2-10 at halftime.

However, a tactical timeout proved pivotal as RRQ clawed back from the 2-10 deficit to secure a dramatic 13-11 map win. They carried this momentum into the decider, closing out the series convincingly.

Reflecting on the comeback in a post-match interview, Monyet admitted he and his teammates had doubted their chances. He revealed it was Jemkin who did the pep talk and and insisted them to turn the table—just like what Team Secret did against them in the group stage when they dominated the first half by 9-1.

This victory propels RRQ into the next lower bracket round, where they’ll face South Korean powerhouse DRX. Fans will be eager to see if they can deliver another surprise performance after today’s thriller.

Jemkin and Monyet top VCT Pacific Stage 2 stats

Jemkin and Monyet continue to dominate the VCT Pacific Stage 2 individual leaderboards. The Russian duelist, Jemkin, holds firm as the league’s second-most effective player with 241.4 ACS, a 1.38 K/D ratio, 145.1 ADR, and a 34% headshot rate.

Meanwhile, Monyet moves down a bit to 10th with 223 ACS, a 1.12 K/D ratio, 140.7 ADR, and a 28% headshot rate. Both players’ stats could climb further if RRQ extends their run in the tournament.

RRQ heavily relies on this duo’s consistency as they pursue their ambitious goal: qualifying for Champions in their first franchised season. This ambition is well-founded, considering their run to Masters Toronto earlier this year—a feat achieved despite widespread skepticism from analysts and fans.

Should RRQ advance to Champions by eliminating the remaining South Korean teams in Pacific Stage 2, they could solidify their fan-given title as “The Korean Slayer.” This nickname made known following their Pacific Stage 1 upset against Gen.G in the final—a team known for making life difficult for the likes of Paper Rex and DRX.
