Monterrey advances to Club World Cup Round of 16 after thrashing Urawa Reds

Monterrey secured their spot in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup Round of 16 after defeating Urawa Reds with a decisive 4-0 score at Rose Bowl Stadium, Pasadena, California.

The Mexican side showed complete dominance — Nelson Deossa opened the scoring in the 30th minute with a spectacular long-range shot. German Berterame extended the lead four minutes later, before Jesus Corona added a third goal in the 39th minute.

Despite Urawa Reds’ attempts to mount a comeback in the second half, Berterame scored his second goal in injury time — completing Monterrey’s emphatic victory. This result, combined with River Plate’s loss to Inter Milan, secured Monterrey’s second-place finish in Group E.
