Modric and Gimenez to Miss AC Milan’s Asia-Pacific Preseason Tour

According to the club’s official website, AC Milan will embark on their Asia-Pacific preseason tour without two new recruits — Luka Modric and Santiago Gimenez.

Coach Massimiliano Allegri has selected 26 players for three friendly matches within nine days. The team’s schedule includes:

  • Facing Arsenal in Singapore
  • Meeting Premier League champions Liverpool in Hong Kong
  • Playing against Perth Glory in Australia

Modric, the 39-year-old midfielder who recently joined as a free agent from Real Madrid — remains on holiday following his Club World Cup appearance. Meanwhile, Gimenez, fresh from helping Mexico secure the Gold Cup trophy, has also been granted extended rest.

“We look forward to welcoming Modric on August 4. He is a champion and will elevate the team’s technical and leadership level,” stated Allegri.

Gimenez, who joined from Feyenoord last February, has netted five goals in 14 league appearances for Milan. Under Allegri, who returns for his second spell at the club — Milan aims to regain Champions League status after finishing eighth last season.
