As the 2025 VCT competitive circuit enters its final third, Aaron “mindfreak” Leonheart, who stepped down from Paper Rex earlier this season, has yet to signal his next destination.

As previously reported, mindfreak was benched by PRX in favor of their new Filipino recruit, Patrick “Patmen” Mendoza. Unwilling to remain inactive, he chose to explore opportunities with teams offering a starting role.

Currently, mindfreak is spending his time hosting watch parties on his personal social media channels, supporting his former teammates through the end of VCT Pacific Stage 2 – potentially until Champions if PRX secures a top-two finish. His decision on a new team is likely to come after this period.

Meanwhile, major organizations are reportedly monitoring his situation and have likely initiated behind-the-scenes talks with the 25-year-old pro. Ultimately, the final choice rests with mindfreak himself.

This uncertainty has sparked a key question within the community: Which team could most benefit from adding mindfreak to their roster?

Boom Esports

Following a surprisingly strong VCT Pacific 2025 Stage 1 performance, the Hungry Beast suffered a sharp decline in Stage 2, finishing 8th and being relegated to Ascension for now. Their situation could worsen if Detonation FocusMe, trailing just a few points behind, makes the finals and gains enough points to potentially push Boom down to Challengers.

For an Indonesian organization with a history of reaching the VCT Champions circuit and other international events, this setback is deeply concerning. A seasoned and strategically decisive professional like mindfreak could be an ideal solution if Boom intends to revamp its roster before the promotion qualifiers.

As a Controller, mindfreak could potentially replace Boom Esports’ import player, Dastan “d0c9” Zhumagali, who also excels as a duelist and might refocus on crucial 1v1 situations. This move, however, would likely mean sacrificing Rizkie “Berserx” Adla from the active lineup.

Evos Esports

This newly formed squad, branded as Evos Arf, features the core of the independent team Arf, which previously dominated the VCT Challengers Indonesia circuit. However, most players lack experience in high-level Asian or international competitions.

Despite this, Evos’s strong commitment to its Valorant division suggests the Blue Tiger might seek an experienced figure to provide strategic guidance and bolster its young talent. And none other than mindfreak fits this profile perfectly.

Sentinels

While perhaps a bolder prediction, Sentinels currently appear to face some challenges with in-game communication. The team has played for an extended period without highly vocal players like Tyson “Tenz” Ngo or Gustavo “Sacy” Rossi.

Replacing the Controller role would mean benching longtime servant Zachary “zekken” Patrone, who has been with the team since 2022. There’s a possibility that the American-Filipino pro could be experiencing mental fatigue after competing at the highest level for so long.

Bringing in mindfreak, from a region with a distinct culture, could potentially address these issues. Sentinels also have a proven track record of successfully integrating non-US players, making mindfreak a plausible transfer target.

Intriguingly, if mindfreak actually joined Sentinels, it would mark a historic moment for Indonesian Valorant esports, as no player from the region has ever been signed to a professional team in North America.
