Miedema Makes History with 100th Goal for Netherlands at Euro 2025

Vivianne Miedema achieved a historic milestone by scoring her 100th goal for the Netherlands national team in their Euro 2025 opening match against Wales in Lucerne. The Dutch striker becomes the first player — male or female — to reach this remarkable landmark.

Wearing the captain’s armband, Miedema broke the deadlock with a strike from outside the penalty box in first-half stoppage time. The Netherlands’ dominance continued in the second half — Victoria Pelova and Esmee Burgts added goals to secure a 3-0 victory.

The journey to her 100th goal was delayed by an ACL injury suffered in December 2022 — forcing her to miss the 2023 World Cup. However, this setback did not diminish her remarkable achievements with the national team.

Miedema’s international career features several notable accomplishments:

  • Euro 2017 victory on home soil
  • 2019 World Cup silver medal
  • Netherlands’ all-time top scorer
  • Record 10 goals in one tournament at Tokyo Olympics
