Michael Laverty reveals why Alex Marquez struggles to overtake Marc at Mugello

Controversy emerged after Alex Marquez failed to overtake his brother Marc Marquez in several recent races — particularly during the 2025 Italian MotoGP at Mugello Circuit.

Speculation about possible collusion between the Marquez brothers began circulating — however, former rider and commentator Michael Laverty provided technical explanations that refute these accusations.

“If you watch World Superbike, there’s a possibility to make a move after the fast corner at Turn 12. However in MotoGP, the track is much shorter,” Laverty explained to TNT Sports.

“You can see Alex running fast, but there isn’t enough space to move aside,” he added.
