Michael Essien Congratulates Persib on Liga 1 Title

Michael Essien has congratulated Persib Bandung for successfully defending their Liga 1 championship title this season.

The former Chelsea midfielder — who played for Maung Bandung as a marquee signing during the 2017 season under Djadjang Nurdjman — shared that he still follows the club’s progress.

During his time with Persib, the Ghanaian midfielder made 30 appearances, logged 2113 minutes of play, and scored five goals — although he wasn’t able to help the team secure the title back then.

Djadjang Nurdjman, Essien’s former coach, now serves as Persib’s technical director and has just made history by leading the team to a Liga 1 double title.
