Michael Bisping criticizes Islam Makhachev’s plan to move up weight class in UFC

Former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping criticizes Islam Makhachev’s plan to move up to welterweight class — the decision is considered an inappropriate step.

The weight difference between lightweight (155 lbs) and welterweight (170 lbs) divisions — this 15-pound gap is deemed too significant for a fighter like Makhachev.

Bisping, who has extensive experience in UFC from 2006 to 2017, agrees with Jack Della Maddalena’s perspective — Makhachev’s potential opponent who states the Dagestani fighter’s frame is too small for the welterweight division.

Bisping’s analysis credibility is supported by his achievements as a former champion who captured the title from Luke Rockhold in 2016, and successfully defended it against Dan Henderson before eventually losing to legend George St.Pierre the following year.
