Messi reveals different expectations with Inter Miami in Club World Cup

Lionel Messi shares his different perspective ahead of the 2025 Club World Cup with Inter Miami, as reported by FIFA.

“It’s an interesting competition. Having the chance to be part of it is exciting. The expectations I have are different from when I played for other teams, but I’m eager and look forward to competing against the best teams,” says Messi.

The 2025 tournament held across the United States — features a new format with 32 participating teams. Inter Miami will start their campaign against Egypt’s Al Ahly, before facing FC Porto and Palmeiras in the group stage.

Luis Suarez also offered his insights about the competition’s level:

“The Europeans are better organized with their approach and the players they have. They are physically tired after a long season, but players always have that desire to play.”

Inter Miami — established only about five years ago — faces significant challenges against major clubs with extensive history in this competition.
