Lionel Messi Protests Controversial Goal in Miami Defeat

Lionel Messi showed visible frustration as Inter Miami suffered a heavy 0-3 defeat to Orlando City in the Florida Derby at Chase Stadium.

The Herons, who have been on a downward trend, conceded the opening goal to Luis Muriel in the 43rd minute, following a long pass from goalkeeper Pedro Gallese.

The goal’s buildup triggered protests from Messi, who questioned the referee’s decision to allow Gallese to use his hands after having previously controlled the ball with his feet inside the six-yard box.

Earlier in the sequence, Messi was dispossessed by Orlando defender Ivan Angulo. The ball deflected off Angulo’s foot, rolled toward Gallese, who then launched the pass to Muriel, eventually leading to the goal past Oscar Ustari.
