According to reports from Austin, Texas, Lionel Messi and Jordi Alba were notably absent from Monday’s first training session with the MLS All-Star team, raising questions about their availability for the high-profile clash against the Liga MX All-Stars.

MLS All-Star head coach and Austin FC manager Nico Estévez addressed the situation diplomatically:

“Leo is more a question for the league and his club. I simply coach the players they give me. Having the best player in history is something very important for everyone.”

An unexplained absence — without a verified medical reason — could potentially trigger a one-match suspension, which would affect Inter Miami’s upcoming league match against FC Cincinnati.
