Messi Breaks Ronaldo’s Non-Penalty Goals Record in MLS

Lionel Messi has written another chapter in his historic career by surpassing Cristiano Ronaldo’s non-penalty goals record.

This achievement came as Inter Miami defeated New York Red Bulls with a convincing 5-1 score in MLS action. La Pulga directly contributed with two goals and one assist.

The 38-year-old player started his contribution with an assist to Jordi Alba in the 24th minute. Subsequently, Messi added two goals in the second half — in the 60th minute from Sergio Busquets‘s pass and in the 75th minute from Luis Suarez‘s assist.

With these two goals, Messi now holds a total of 764 non-penalty goals — a new record in football history previously held by Cristiano Ronaldo.
