Memphis Depay Equals Dutch Legend’s Record at Euroborg

Memphis Depay achieved a historic milestone as the Netherlands National Team defeated Malta 8-0 in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers in Euroborg.

The Dutch striker scored two first-half goals — a penalty in the 9th minute and an additional goal in the 16th minute.

Ronald Koeman’s side dominated the match with further goals from Virgil van Dijk in the first half, followed by Xavi Simons, two goals from Donyell Malen, one from Noa Lang, and a closing goal from Micky van de Ven in the second half.

Depay’s special achievement in this match — matching Robin van Persie’s record of 50 goals for the Netherlands National Team, making him the joint all-time top scorer for De Oranje.
