Mehdi Taremi Stranded in Tehran, Missing Club World Cup

Striker Mehdi Taremi cannot join Inter Milan at the Club World Cup in the United States — the Iranian player is stranded in Tehran due to escalating conflict between Iran and Israel.

All flights from Iranian airports have been suspended following military strikes exchange between both countries. This situation has prevented the 32-year-old player from catching his scheduled flight to Los Angeles to join his teammates.

Taremi recently represented Iran’s national team in a World Cup qualification match against North Korea in Tehran — where he managed to score in his team’s victory.

The former Porto player will definitely miss Inter’s opening match against Monterrey. Italian media reports that Taremi will also not appear in subsequent matches, regardless of whether Iranian airspace reopens or not.
