Megawati Hangestri Pertiwi stole the spotlight as the standout performer in yesterday’s (August 4) decisive final of the 2024-2025 Korean Volleyball League Women, despite her team, the Red Sparks, falling short in a nail-biting 2-3 defeat (24-26, 24-26, 26-24, 25-23, 13-15) against the Incheon Heungkuk Life Pink Spiders.

The 25-year-old Indonesian star, playing for the Red Sparks, fought fiercely to close the score gap after her team trailed early in the match. Though they staged a remarkable comeback to force a fifth set, the Pink Spiders ultimately clinched the title in a tense 15-13 finale.

Nonetheless, Megawati received praise for her extraordinary individual performance, which included:

  • 40 points in the third set

  • 38 points in the fourth set

  • 37 points in the decisive fifth set

Despite her heroics, the Jember-born athlete’s amazing efforts weren’t enough to secure the Red Sparks their first Korean Volleyball League championship this season.
