Medvedev Back in Washington: 2025 DC Open Marks His Big Return

Washington, D.C. – Former US Open champion Daniil Medvedev is set to make a high-stakes return to the 2025 DC Open, marking his first appearance in Washington since his memorable run to the final in 2019 (The Washington Post).

Currently ranked world No. 11, Medvedev arrives with momentum and a mission. Known for his unrelenting baseline play and tactical brilliance on hard courts, the 28-year-old Russian is poised to reclaim dominance at a tournament where he once came heartbreakingly close to the title.

“Coming back to D.C. brings good memories. I’ve always enjoyed playing here—it’s fast, competitive, and full of energy,” Medvedev shared in a recent press interaction.

After consistent performances on tour this season, Medvedev is eyeing the DC Open as a launchpad ahead of the US Open Series. With top competition and rising stars in the field, all eyes will be on whether the former world No. 1 can go one better this time around.

As the 2025 DC Open approaches (21–27 July), Medvedev’s return adds firepower, intensity, and a touch of unfinished business—making him one of the top contenders to watch.
