McLaren introduces front suspension changes at Canadian GP

McLaren implemented an update to its front suspension for the Canadian GP — one of three changes introduced by the team this weekend.

Lando Norris decided to use the new specification after free practice sessions, while championship leader Oscar Piastri chose to continue with the setup that has brought him success so far.

Team principal Andrea Stella explained that although the physical changes were almost imperceptible, the new suspension package was designed to provide better feedback to drivers at the front end of the car.

“We were experimenting with the suspension on Lando’s side because this change aims to pass more feeling through the suspension and steering to our drivers,” Stella explained.

Piastri revealed his reasoning for not using the new package:

“I’m not that concerned really. I could have run it if I wanted to, but chose not to. It’s not an upgrade, just a different part. I’ve been happy with how the car’s been so far and wanted to keep consistency.”

Stella emphasized that these changes don’t directly impact car performance — only providing additional setup options for both drivers to explore driving styles that best suit their preferences.
