McLaren Boss: Ferrari Now a Serious Threat in F1 2025

McLaren team principal Andrea Stella states that Ferrari’s performance improvements will significantly impact this season’s Formula 1 championship battle.

Despite Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton showing dominance throughout British GP practice sessions, they could only manage fifth and sixth in qualifying. Pole position was secured by Max Verstappen from Red Bull, followed by McLaren duo Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris.

“Ferrari appears to be the strongest team based on their lap times in every session. Though the gaps are very small, the upgrades they brought to Austria seem to be working very well,” says Stella.

Ferrari’s floor upgrade has proven to deliver consistent performance gains. Though yet to secure a win this year, Scuderia Ferrari is predicted to compete at the front for the remainder of the 2025 season.

Verstappen — who has collected four consecutive world titles — claimed pole with an impressive last-minute qualifying lap. The British GP will start at 3 PM local time, with McLaren determined to maintain their 207-point lead in the constructors’ standings.
