Rory McIlroy — the new 2025 Masters champion — has expressed his willingness to wear the prestigious Green Jacket at a Manchester United match to boost his beloved club’s performance.

The Northern Irish golfer made history as the sixth player to achieve a career Grand Slam — completing his collection of Masters, PGA Championship, US Open, and Open Championship trophies.

“If it can inspire some better play, absolutely,” McIlroy responded when asked about potentially bringing his new jacket to Old Trafford.

McIlroy’s victory came hours after Manchester United suffered their 14th Premier League defeat this season — a heavy 4-1 loss to Newcastle United. Ruben Amorim’s team now languishes in 14th position in the standings.

  • Secured first major title in 11 years
  • Defeated Justin Rose in tense playoff
  • Became sixth player to complete career Grand Slam

“There were points in my career where I didn’t know if I would have this nice garment over my shoulders,” McIlroy shared after claiming his fifth major title. “It was one of the toughest days I’ve ever had on the golf course.”
