Mauricio Souza ready to continue Teco’s successful legacy at Persija Jakarta

Mauricio Souza officially becomes the third Brazilian coach to handle Persija Jakarta after the era of Stefano Cugurra — the figure who delivered the last Liga 1 title for Macan Kemayoran.

Persija’s proud achievement under Teco’s guidance occurred in 2018 — when the capital city team managed to secure the championship after defeating Mitra Kukar in the decisive match.

Since Teco’s departure, Persija has been unable to repeat similar success in Liga 1 — the team’s best achievement only occurred in the 2022-2023 season under Thomas Doll.
