Mauricio Souza begins preparation with Persija Jakarta

Mauricio Souza — the new Persija Jakarta coach — has begun team preparation ahead of Liga 1 2025/2026 competition. The Macan Kemayoran held their first training session yesterday.

This marks the first moment for Souza to lead the team after being appointed to replace Carlos Pena — the previous coach who is no longer with the club.

“We have time for adaptation again because players have just returned from vacation,” said Souza.

“The most important thing is how they can readapt both technically and non-technically. We haven’t thought about game tactics yet,” he added.

The Brazilian coach emphasized the importance of adaptation period — especially with several new players set to join the squad.
