Mathias Christiansen returns to court after one-year suspension

Mathias Christiansen, Danish mixed doubles badminton player — has completed his suspension period and is preparing to return to court with Alexandra Boje.

The pair, who dropped to world ranking 177, will make their comeback at Macau Open 2025 — a BWF World Tour Super 300 tournament scheduled for late July.

Christiansen received a one-year competition ban — due to lack of discipline in Denmark’s anti-doping reporting system. During the suspension, Boje, who is also his partner off-court, paired up with Dutch player Robin Tabeling.

“Honestly, I believe that this series of tournaments will make us stronger,” Christiansen told TV2 Sport Denmark.

After Macau Open, the Danish pair is also scheduled to compete at the 2025 World Championships in France — marking their return to elite badminton competition.
