Martin Donnelly, former Arrows and Lotus F1 driver, shares a special moment meeting Brad Pitt for the new F1 movie. His serious accident from 35 years ago became the inspiration for the film’s main plot.

The horrific incident occurred during practice at Jerez Circuit — Donnelly’s Lotus car split in half after hitting the wall at 160 mph due to suspension failure.

“I couldn’t believe he was talking to me. This is a moment I’ll cherish for life — a star of Brad Pitt’s caliber asking for my advice and direction,” Donnelly revealed.

Despite doctors declaring he would never race again, Donnelly proved otherwise.

“Surgeons don’t understand a racing driver’s mind. We are stubborn, determined and selfish,” he explained.

Three years after the accident, Donnelly returned behind the wheel of a Jordan car at Silverstone Circuit — proving his strong determination to drive again.
