Marquez Leads MotoGP Standings, Tardozzi Denies Ducati Internal Issues

Marc Marquez continues to showcase his dominance in the 2025 MotoGP season, leading the championship standings after the latest race at Le Mans Circuit, France. The Gresini Ducati rider has now amassed 171 points, establishing a 51-point lead over Francesco Bagnaia, who currently holds third place with 120 points.

This performance disparity between the two Ducati riders has raised questions, especially since both are riding the latest Desmosedici GP25 bikes and operate under the same factory umbrella.

Tardozzi addresses speculation on Ducati setup

Responding to growing rumors, Ducati team manager, Davide Tardozzi, clarified the situation regarding the technical differences between riders.

“During testing in Barcelona, we brought the new bike and both riders shared their feedback with Gigi Dall’Igna and the technical team,” said Tardozzi.
“They both expressed concerns regarding some engine components, and the team implemented adjustments during the winter before final homologation.”

Regulation limitations on engine and aero changes

Tardozzi further explained that Bagnaia is allowed to use the 2024 bike, but is restricted by current regulations.

“Under new rules, Pecco can use the 2024 bike, but cannot switch back to old engines or aerodynamics. Once components are homologated, there is no going back,” he added.

The 66-year-old manager emphasized that there are no significant technical gaps between the GP24 and GP25 and firmly denied any internal conflict within the Ducati team.
