Ducati’s GP25 Development Favors Marquez, Says Former Aprilia Expert

The 2025 MotoGP season is heating up, and Marc Marquez is stealing the spotlight in his debut year with Ducati. According to Giulio Bernardelle, a former Aprilia technician and MotoGP analyst, the development of the Desmosedici GP25 appears to be leaning toward Marquez’s riding style — putting pressure on his teammate, Francesco Bagnaia.

Marquez, who joined Ducati this season, has wasted no time adjusting. The eight-time world champion has clinched three main race victories and won all sprint races so far, collecting a total of 171 points. The Spanish rider currently leads the 2025 standings, showcasing unmatched synergy with his new machine.

Bagnaia’s Title Defense Falters Amid Inconsistent Form

In stark contrast, Francesco Bagnaia, the reigning MotoGP World Champion, is enduring a frustrating campaign. Despite being with Ducati since 2021, Bagnaia has only managed one race win and four podium finishes across the first six rounds.

With 120 points, Bagnaia is now third in the standings, trailing Marquez by a daunting 51 points heading into the British GP at Silverstone. Critics argue that Ducati’s current development direction has shifted toward optimizing for Marquez’s aggressive, late-braking style — something that doesn’t suit Bagnaia’s smoother approach.

The internal competition within Ducati is intensifying, and Silverstone will be a crucial stage for Bagnaia to reassert his presence in the title race.
