Marquez brothers’ dominance in Dutch MotoGP Sprint raises questions

Marquez brothers’ dominance in Dutch MotoGP Sprint raises questions

Marc Marquez and Alex Marquez have once again demonstrated their dominance in the Dutch MotoGP Sprint race at the Assen Circuit.

Ducati Lenovo rider Marc Marquez — the eight-time world champion, took control from the start, while his brother Alex Marquez — two-time world champion, followed in second position.

The dominance of these Cervera-born brothers has become increasingly notable — they have secured 1-2 positions in the last five races, including both sprints and grand prix since the Aragon series.

In the ten rounds completed in the 2025 season, the Marquez duo has consistently dominated Sprint Race top positions — Marc has claimed nine victories, while Alex has recorded one win.

The lack of overtaking action between the brothers has started to draw attention — even in the Dutch GP Sprint, Alex barely attempted to pass his older brother, contrasting with their aggressive style when facing other riders.

“I’ve noticed it, but I don’t have any issues with it,” stated Francesco Bagnaia from Ducati Lenovo team, their closest championship rival.
