Maresca: Money Not Chelsea’s Main Motivation in Club World Cup

According to manager Enzo Maresca, Chelsea feels no financial pressure to win the Club World Cup — despite the £97 million prize money at stake.

The Blues find themselves in a critical situation — they must avoid defeat against Esperance de Tunis in Philadelphia to secure the second place in Group D.

While the club has undertaken controversial transactions including the sale of Copthorne and Millennium hotels and their women’s team, Maresca emphasizes that the focus remains on sporting achievement.

“The owners just want the best for us and for the players game by game,” stated Maresca. “They never talk about the final prize or put pressure regarding the money.”

Meanwhile, Reece James missed Monday’s training session due to illness, amid Philadelphia temperatures reaching nearly 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
