Marcus Rashford one step away from joining Barcelona on loan

According to ESPN, Marcus Rashford is on the verge of moving to Barcelona on a season-long loan after Manchester United permitted the English forward to open talks with the La Liga champions.

Rashford — who has been training separately from United’s first team for the past two weeks — does not feature in coach Ruben Amorim’s plans at Old Trafford. A six-month loan spell at Aston Villa last season failed to turn into a permanent £40 million transfer.

The 27-year-old striker has recorded 138 goals in 426 appearances for United since his debut nine years ago. His major achievements with the club include Europa League title, two FA Cups, and two League Cups.

Rashford’s last appearance for United came against Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League about seven months ago. Barcelona — who failed to secure Nico Williams and Luis Díaz — have now made the forward with three years left on his contract their primary target.
