Marco Melandri: Bagnaia Should Not Try to Copy Marc Marquez’s Style

Former MotoGP rider Marco Melandri shares his perspective on the situation faced by Francesco Bagnaia with Ducati Lenovo team — the Italian rider has experienced a significant performance drop this season.

According to Melandri, the presence of Marc Marquez as a teammate and Alex Marquez in the Gresini team has put unique pressure on the defending champion.

“It all depends on Marquez’s speed, because Bagnaia actually hasn’t slowed down compared to last year,” states Melandri.

The Italian MotoGP analyst also highlights Bagnaia’s subpar performance in his home series at the Italian MotoGP — the hot weather conditions at Mugello Circuit were considered to affect the results.

“The hot weather affected him at Mugello, but if it weren’t for both Marquez brothers at their current level, Bagnaia would win every race,” adds Melandri.
