Marc Marquez wins Dutch GP sprint despite injuries after crashes

Marc Marquez – the MotoGP championship leader – secured a sprint race victory at the Dutch GP despite suffering two major crashes during Friday’s practice session.

The 32-year-old rider acknowledged his body wasn’t in optimal condition following these incidents.

“The body is like a diesel engine, it needs time to warm up and everything feels stiff. It was like a lazy Saturday! I just have some pain in my finger and right arm, but it didn’t affect the performance much,” Marquez explained.

Though able to maintain his usual speed, the six-time world champion understands the need for a careful approach in Sunday’s race.

“I understand that my body cannot accept another big crash. So today I raced calmly. The target today was not to lose many championship points, and tomorrow will be the same mentality,” he stated.

The Assen circuit characteristics and Marquez’s braking advantage proved crucial for his victory – he leads the championship with a 43-point margin over his brother Alex Marquez in second place.

“I’m very strong on the braking points, that’s my strong point. My bike setup is just for the brakes. I’m the Ducati rider who brakes latest,” Marquez added.
